Tag editing
Downloading mp3's from the net is one thing, after a while you'll need to order your collection to keep it manageable. Chances are that your preferences do not match those of the original uploader or you simply want to correct errors in filename or ID3-tag.
We're looking for a program to change attributes per set of files (like an entire directory of mp3's) and it also needs to be capable of doing it smartly, for example change filenames based on ID3-tags so you don't need to do double work. It would also be handy if the program is capable of handling other fileformats than mp3.
With the help of some of the commenters on this blog I've compiled a list of useful programs that can do these kinds of jobs. They're much alike in basic capabilities but differ vastly in user interface and strength hence I don't recommend a single program; you'll need to do some (in depth) testing to see which one fits you best.
Note that this list is compiled for your convenience and not as an overview of what's available. There are probably more ways to get the job done and there are very likely other programs which are not listed here but you'll find enough to get started or perhaps you'll come across a suggestion that's better than the tool you're using already.
Some of the tools I've tried myself, some are listed because of the enthousiasm of others. This list may be outdated the moment it's published and is likely to be incomplete so feel free to mail alternative suggestions to CaesarTjalbo [@] GMail.com
